This Spiced Apple Cake with Dulce de Leche Frosting is the perfect blend of cozy autumn flavors and irresistible sweetness. Thanks to the addition of Wesson Canola Oil, the cake is incredibly moist, soft, and tender with every bite—providing the perfect base for the warm spices of cinnamon and allspice. The natural sweetness of unsweetened applesauce and the richness of brown sugar bring this cake to life, making it the ideal dessert for fall gatherings or cozy afternoons.

Topping it all off is a silky-smooth frosting made with dulce de leche, butter, and cream cheese. The dulce de leche imparts a sweet, caramelized flavor that perfectly complements the spiced cake, creating a dreamy, melt-in-your-mouth experience. A touch of cinnamon finishes the frosting with an extra layer of flavor, elevating this dessert to pure indulgence.

Chill it for a bit to let the frosting set and serve each slice with a light sprinkle of cinnamon for that extra dash of warmth. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just treating yourself, this cake will become a new favorite that everyone will rave about!

Pro tip: The Wesson canola oil not only ensures a moist texture but also lets the rich apple and spice flavors shine through, making each bite perfectly balanced.

    Dulce de Leche 3/4 cup.
Powdered Sugar, sifted 2 3/4 cups.
    Ground Cinnamon 1/2 tsp.
    Kosher Salt 1/4 tsp.

    Method

    Apple Cake

Preheat your oven to 350ºF and spray a n 8-inch round cake pan with non stick spray.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and spices. Set aside.

In another bowl whisk together the applesauce, oil, white sugar, brown sugar, and egg.

Fold the wet ingredients into the flour mixture.

Pour the cake batter into the prepared pan, then bake for 45-50 minutes. Until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

    Dulce de Leche Buttercream

In the bowl of a stand up mixer fitted with the paddle attachment cream the butter with the cream cheese and dulce de leche for a full minute at medium speed. Turn the speed down to low and add the powdered sugar ½ cup at a time so you don’t end up in a powdered sugar cloud.

After you have all the powdered sugar mixed in, add the cinnamon and salt then turn the speed to medium high for a full minute to make the buttercream nice and fluffy.

    Assembly Method
Spread the buttercream evenly over the cake then let the cake sit in the fridge for at least an hour. Once you are ready to serve, serve each slice with a light sprinkle of cinnamon.
